Capsa Packaging has been awarded a WorldStar Award 2026, the most prestigious international recognition in the packaging sector, granted by the World Packaging Organization (WPO). The award recognises e-PROTECT CITRI, a packaging solution developed for the Citring juicer, winner of the iF Design Award 2024, and reinforces Capsa’s positioning as a specialist in the design of innovative, functional and sustainable corrugated cardboard packaging.
An international recognition of packaging excellence
Since 1970, the WorldStar Awards have recognised the best packaging solutions worldwide, highlighting projects that stand out for their innovation, design, technology and sustainability. In the 2026 edition, the international jury once again rewarded solutions capable of responding to real market and logistics challenges.
Within this context, the award granted to Capsa Packaging highlights a solution that combines advanced product protection, operational efficiency and eco-design, proving that cardboard can deliver high technical performance without the need for plastic materials.
From Liderpack Award to WorldStar Award
The e-PROTECT CITRI project was previously recognised with the Liderpack Award 2025 for Best Household Product Packaging, a key milestone that enabled its nomination for the international WorldStar competition.
This journey confirms the robustness of the design and the consistency of the project, from national recognition to international acclaim.
A project born from Capsa’s packaging design consultancy
e-PROTECT CITRI originated from Capsa’s packaging design consultancy service, focused on developing customised boxes precisely tailored to the technical, logistical and sustainability requirements of each client.
This approach allows each product, sales channel and logistics flow to be analysed in depth in order to design a tailored packaging solution that optimises processes and enhances both the in-store and delivery experience.
A mono-material solution that replaces EPS
The solution consists of a 100% mono-material corrugated cardboard packaging, made up of the patented Capsa 2in1® e-Plus outer box and two custom-designed internal structures that protect the product.
These components completely replace expanded polystyrene (EPS) elements commonly used in household appliance packaging, ensuring impact absorption through their air chambers while keeping the packaging entirely cardboard-based, improving recyclability and reducing environmental impact.
2in1® double closure: one box, two uses
The Capsa 2in1® e-Plus outer box, with an automatic bottom, features the patented 2in1® double-closure system, allowing two different closing options simply by alternating the flaps.
- Shipping flaps provide a comfortable and tamper-evident closure during order preparation.
- Interlocking flaps, designed for storage and reuse, offer greater structural strength than a conventional box and allow multiple openings and closings without adhesive tape.
A solution designed to optimise picking and packing processes while enhancing the user experience.
One single packaging solution from retail to e-commerce
Unlike common e-commerce practice, which requires an additional box for online shipping, Capsa’s solution uses a single, aesthetic and functional packaging that protects the product both at the point of sale and during delivery to the end customer, eliminating the need for a second shipping box.
This approach reduces material use, simplifies logistics operations and ensures consistent brand presentation throughout the entire product journey.
Recognising internal talent
The award also recognises the work of Martí Rovira, Innovation Manager at Capsa Packaging, for his creativity in designing packaging solutions for easy, efficient and practical use, while maintaining the patented 2in1® double-closure system, enabling box reuse and adding value from both a logistical and environmental perspective.

The official WorldStar Awards 2026 ceremony will take place on May 8 in Düsseldorf (Germany), as part of the Interpack trade fair, one of the leading international events in the packaging industry.
